Day of the death. DIANA AND ANDREA.

In our town we celebrate the day of the death with a big altar. We put seven things of each thing because this number represent the number of the souls that are in the sky.
We put on the corner of the table one candle and with this ,we represent the arrive light of each deceased. Is important to mention that in the middle of the table we collocate a portrait of the person who dead.
After that we collocate some food such as:

  • 7 sugar skulls.
  • 7 candies of pumpkin.
  • Seeds
  • 7 chocolates cups.
  • A bottle of tequila
  •   A glass of water.
  • 7 tortillas
  • 7 grains of corns.
  • 7 grains of beans.
And spines to avoid being disturbed by evil spirits . Also we put a figure that represent the  Scuinthli , It is a dog in nahuathl that meaning guardian of the altar.
At the end ,people create a way of cempasuchi flower because people in our town believe that with this way ,all the souls, will return at the sky  and at the journey to other world , lasting seven years , after witch they will leave eventually.
This tradition finish on November 2nd, when the churches of the town rang bells at noon because the souls leave their homes to return at the other world.

My first Oratory Contest !!! Diana Jazmin

When I attended the first grade on Junior High School; I had a big emotion because the subjects were the best for me and I liked them , but I had two favorite subjects History and Identity ,Culture and Society.
Both subjects dealing with policy issues ,social security ,ambient environment ,culture, among others , and  for me this topics were amazing.
One day in the middle of the course , my history teacher made the invitation to all fist grade students to the twenty -third internal oratory contest in the junior high school.
That invitation was really exiting for me ,so without thinking about it, I raised my hand and I said " I want participate ".
The teacher asked for an applause and he wrote my name on a list.

Next day of the contest , all students who made  their registration in this participated ;each one had to select one of the twenty eight topics ,and develop it orally about 10 minutes .This topic had to have introduction ,development and conclusion.
The students who passed the first phase ,obviously would continue to the second and students had to improvise a topic about 12 minutes .
Then only four passed to the final stage : and that was a Public Debate.
I was so nervous , but fortunately I passed all the phases and I was a finalist , I was so nervous again , I wanted to run away but that moment before I passed ; my teacher told me " I trust in you, you have all to win , you can!"
And seven years later I wont the twenty third Oratory Contest in Ciudad Serdan.
Currently with this opportunity I feel  as a loving woman of the word.

*Use mnemonic devices to make memorization easier.
Mnemonic deviceExample
Visual image – Associate a visual image with a word or name to help you remember them better. Positive, pleasant images that are vivid, colorful, and three-dimensional will be easier to remember.
To remember the name Rosa Parks and what she’s known for, picture a woman sitting on a park bench surrounded by roses, waiting as her bus pulls up.
Acrostic (or sentence) - Make up a sentence in which the first letter of each word is part of or represents the initial of what you want to remember.
The sentence “Every good boy does fine” to memorize the lines of the treble clef, representing the notes E, G, B, D, and F.
Acronym – An acronym is a word that is made up by taking the first letters of all the key words or ideas you need to remember and creating a new word out of them.
The word “HOMES” to remember the names of the Great Lakes: Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, and Superior.
Rhymes and alliteration - Rhymes, alliteration (a repeating sound or syllable), and even jokes are a memorable way to remember more mundane facts and figures.
The rhyme “Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November” to remember the months of the year with only 30 days in them.
Chunking – Chunking breaks a long list of numbers or other types of information into smaller, more manageable chunks.
Remembering a 10-digit phone number by breaking it down into three sets of numbers: 555-867-5309 (as opposed to5558675309).
Method of loci – Imagine placing the items you want to remember along a route you know well or in specific locations in a familiar room or building.
For a shopping list, imagine bananas in the entryway to your home, a puddle of milk in the middle of the sofa, eggs going up the stairs, and bread on your bed.
